Kicks for Kids Partners with TVA for Weeden Shoe Drop

The Listerhill Foundation’s Kicks for Kids program recently hosted a Shoe Drop at Weeden Elementary School, made possible through a generous sponsorship from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA).

The Listerhill Foundation brought Kicks for Kids to Weeden Elementary with a shoe drop sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

FLORENCE, AL — The Listerhill Foundation’s Kicks for Kids program recently hosted a Shoe Drop at Weeden Elementary School, made possible through a generous sponsorship from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). In alignment with TVA’s commitment to supporting communities across the region, Weeden Elementary was chosen as the school to receive the Shoe Drop.

Through TVA’s support, more than 500 students at Weeden Elementary received new brand‑name athletic shoes, along with five pairs of Bombas socks each. The Shoe Drop helped students complete the school year with appropriate footwear while supporting their comfort and readiness to learn.

Kicks for Kids funded by the Listerhill Foundation gave over 500 pairs of shoes to students K-6th Grade.

TVA employees volunteered alongside staff from Listerhill Credit Union, school personnel, and community partners to assist with the event. Volunteers helped size students, distribute shoes and socks, and ensure students felt seen and celebrated.

The Shoe Drop provided students with an opportunity to receive individualized attention and practical resources in a positive school setting. The program supports not only physical needs, but also confidence and a sense of inclusion for students.

Events such as this are made possible through the support of donors, volunteers, and partners like TVA. Together with the Listerhill Foundation, TVA continues to invest in initiatives that promote student well‑being and educational success.

Since its inception, the Kicks for Kids program has distributed thousands of pairs of shoes and socks to students throughout North Alabama and Southern Tennessee, helping ensure children have essential resources for the school day.
